More than 50 speakers across more than 18 education sessions are expected to speak at the 2010 ERA D2C Convention. Speakers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and cover every aspect of the direct response marketing industry – from online, radio, TV and mobile – and everything in between. Education Tracks 1 through 4 are taking place on Tuesday, September 21, the day before the show floor opens.

BoilenScott Boilen, Allstar Products Group
Scott Boilen has had over 15 years experience in Direct Response Media and the Consumer Products industry. Mr. Boilen is one of the founders of Allstar Products Group, LLC, and acting President-CEO. Allstar has emerged as one of the country’s most innovative and successful product development and marketing companies, creating multi-million dollar brands such as Aqua Globes, Green Bags, Topsy Turvy, Bendarros, and Snuggie.

Immediately prior to Yahoo!, Paul was an interaction designer at Homestead Technologies developing innovative and usable interfaces for web and desktop applications.

Borkowski George Borkowski, Venable LLP
George Borkowski is the co-chair of Venable's national Intellectual Property Litigation Group. He has spent his career representing major entertainment and technology clients at the intersection of content creation and protection with technology, with a focus on the impact of technology on traditional intellectual property rights and business models. Mr. Borkowski represents leading entertainment, video game and software companies and industry associations, as well as technology companies, and has handled the full continuum of IP and technology litigation, anti-piracy and rights enforcement, and counseling. In addition to his entertainment IP industry work, Mr. Borkowski handles patent, trade secrets, digital copyright and anti-piracy cases for major computer and software companies and semiconductor manufacturers. He also has represented a leading wireless provider in trademark and network development disputes in California.

CianchetteJason Cianchette, Liquid Wireless
Jason Cianchette is the founder of Liquid Wireless, a performance based media buying agency focused exclusively on the mobile web. Liquid Wireless runs cost per action campaigns for a number of national direct response advertisers that target the 75 million American’s who now surf the web from their mobile phone. Previously, Jason was the Vice President of Product for MocoSpace, which was the third most heavily trafficked mobile site in North America. Before MocoSpace, Jason helped create direct marketing campaigns for Major League Baseball, AT&T, Citibank and General Motors.

Brendan Condon comes to REVShare with over 25 years of global media experience across the Time Warner organization – specializing in media monetization. As a senior vice president for AOL and the managing director for the company’s London-based international advertising divisions, he led a team of 500+ employees across 10 European countries and Japan. Mr. Condon is an industry-leading executive who has specialized in all aspects of media including Video, Web Display, Mobile, and Ad Serving, - across portals, 3rd party ad networks, vertical publishing houses, social networks and emerging technologies. His background includes extensive experience in strategic prospecting, evaluating, and acquiring or partnering with companies of scale across varying media sectors.

CravenSara Craven, Verifi
Sara Craven joined the Verifi team in July 2009 as its General Counsel and is responsible for oversight of all legal affairs of the company. Prior to Verifi, Sara spent over 7 years representing a broad range of clients in various industries including gaming, music downloading, credit reporting and many companies in the e-commerce community. She has represented clients in transactional matters including contract drafting and negotiation, management of corporate affairs and day-to-day legal issues. Sara has also spent a great deal of time representing clients in complex business litigation matters in both state and federal court. Sara holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California Santa Barbara and received her Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University School of Law.

As CEO and employee owner, Tom Davis is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for USA 800 to sustain profitable growth. Tom, who has been with USA 800 for over 18 years, led the conversion from a private organization to employee ownership. “The most important aspect of the people of USA 800 is the employee-ownership and the shared success which breeds teamwork, innovative thinking, a customer–centric mentality, and an entrepreneurial spirit.” USA 800 has been able to drive profitable growth, even in a down economy, because they deliver results for their clients. Tom also likes to deliver on the court playing pick-up basketball and coaching his kids.

DicksonSally Dickson, MMSI
Sally Dickson, president of MMSI since 2006, has over 30 years of direct response, marketing and television sales experience. As a former business owner, Ms. Dickson also has an entrepreneurial background that prepared her well for her role as president of MMSI. Today, while focused on the strategic growth of the company, Ms. Dickson plays a key role in new client development and client relations, leading a growing team of account executives. Early in her career, Ms. Dickson served as media director of the former Dial Media Inc., originators of the legendary Ginsu Knife, Armourcote Cookware and many other famous direct response offers. In addition to her agency background, Ms. Dickson spent seven years in television sales at WPRI-TV, Providence, RI. Her combined experiences in media buying and television sales management have given her a unique perspective on the dynamics of direct response television media placement, expanding over the past decade to include internet and mobile channels.

DurandStacy Durand, Revenue Frontier/Media Design Group
As President of Revenue Frontier and Media Design Group, Stacy Durand is responsible for placing proprietary and paid media for some of the largest clients in the industry. With nineteen years of direct response experience, fifteen as the EVP of Mercury Media, Stacy is one of the leading experts in the media industry. After joining Revenue Frontier, a direct marketing company that offers unique media and marketing opportunities in live shopping, television and radio, in 2005, she was able to double the companies client list and billing in less than a year. After four years at Revenue Frontier, Stacy and Revenue Frontier have partnered to form Media Design Group, a traditional paid media agency. Stacy’s vision was to open a boutique media agency with superior client service. Marrying MDG and RF provides the clients with the perfect mix of both traditional and CPA media buying. Durand’s industry involvement is expansive. She is very involved in the DMA and ERA. Stacy has served as Chairperson of the ERA’s Media Council, ERA’s Membership Committee and ERA’s Education Committee. She was also awarded ERA’s “Volunteer of the Year” in 2006. Stacy is currently on the Board of Directors of the Electronic Retailing Association.

EdenMaria Eden, Mercury Media
Prior to joining Mercury Media, Maria Eden was the co-founder and President of Direct Response Media, Inc. (DRMi), a full-service media agency. With more than 30 years of successful DR media management experience, Maria has expertise in all aspects of media including television, newspaper, magazine, radio and inbound telemarketing. She also has extensive experience on the client side. As Media Director for National Liberty Marketing (now AEGON), a leader in direct response advertising, Maria developed an in-house television media buying service and grew billings to $22 million over four years – a pioneering and extremely successful effort in the direct marketing industry. Maria has also held positions as Media Director for Byrnes and Takiff, working with major clients such as Union Fidelity. Previously, she was East Coast Account Representative for NICE Corporation (now Convergys).

FisherMatthew Fisher, LiveOps
Matthew Fisher is responsible sales, business development and client services for LiveOps Direct Response business unit. Mr. Fisher has been with LiveOps since 2003 and until recently was responsible for the successful deployment of customer projects as VP of Client Services. Prior to LiveOps, Mr. Fisher worked with the core LiveOps engineering team at Netscape, developing its Internet browser. He holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor's degree in Math from the University of California at Davis.

FrankelDouglas Frankel, Broadcast Communications Media, Inc.
Douglas Frankel is the founder and president of Broadcast Communications Media, an innovative marketing and media company, started in 2008, specializing in creative solutions for the direct response broadcast industry. Broadcast Communications wealth of experience in radio, television and print media buying has allow the company to become one of the leaders in the direct response industry. Prior to starting Broadcast Communications Media, Mr. Frankel spent over 11 years with United Broadcast Sales, Inc. From 1994 until his departure in the spring of 2001, he served as a partner at United Broadcast Sales, concentrating on new business development. Prior to this, Mr. Frankel was vice president of radio operations for the Financial Broadcasting Networking, the first 24 hour business radio network in the U.S. From 1985-1989, he worked at KRTH Radio as an account executive and retail sales manager. Mr. Frankel graduated from UCLA and lives in Santa Monica, CA and enjoys playing guitar, writing music, golf and meditation.

GelfandJonathan Gelfand, Product Partners LLC
Jonathan Gelfand has over 13 years of experience representing clients involved in entertainment, new media and emerging technologies, advertising, privacy and marketing, and intellectual property matters with a focus on direct response marketing, multi-level marketing, and electronic retailing. For over four years, Jonathan has been General Counsel for Product Partners, LLC. Jonathan additionally serves as the Senior Vice President, Business Development for the company. Among his business and legal services, Jonathan provides counsel for a myriad of activities, including: complex contract negotiations; Federal Trade Commission, Food and Drug Administration and other federal and state regulatory compliance and intellectual property maintenance and protection. Very active in the electronic retailing community, Jonathan currently serves as Chairman on ERA's Government Affairs Committee and the Government Relations Committee and Lawyers Council for the Direct Selling Association. Jonathan also maintains a busy pro bono docket.

Christine Georgakakis Christine Georgakakis, TV Guide Network
Christine Georgakakis is senior vice president of advertising sales for TV Guide Network. Ms. Georgakakis oversees DR ad sales for the Network and Online. Ms. Georgakakis’ 20-plus years in television has included various advertising sales roles in cable, digital and interactive.

GobelPeggy Gobel, Cannella Response Television
With over ten years experience in the DRTV world, Peggy Gobel knows what it takes to manage a successful cable campaign. She has a proven track record of managing some of the largest and most successful DRTV campaigns in the industry in product categories ranging from household products to fitness. Ms. Gobel currently manages all cable buys for Cannella Response Television, Inc. and oversees the company’s media buying and trafficking teams. She is also responsible for developing media plans, analyzing media expenditures, and working closely with DRTV clients to ensure the success of the smallest to the most aggressive media needs. Ms. Gobel’s education is in Profession Communications with a focus in leadership development.

Linda Goldstein is widely recognized as one of the leading advertising lawyers in the country. GreeneDan Greene, Google TV Ads
Dan Greene is currently the Head of Online Sales and Operations for the TV Ads Group at Google. He and his team are responsible for managing and growing this emerging advertising business for Google’s online channel. Dan joined Google in 2007 and spent his first two years managing the Travel Industry ad-group. As the head of Travel, Dan and his team developed both online SEM and SEO marketing strategies as well as integrated marketing plans involving Google TV, YouTube, and Display based advertising. Prior to joining Google, Dan was the VP of Business Operations for an aviation startup company; and prior to that, the Director of Deal Development and Special Programs for Rubloff Development Group.

HarringtonTim Harrington, Harrington Multi Media Marketing
Tim Harrington has served as Chairman of the Board and CEO of hm3 since its inception. From 1987 to 1991 he served as President of Quantum International, which parlayed a $75,000 investment into $50 million in first year sales. Tim served as Executive Vice President of National Media from 1991 to 1994. Tim moved to St. Petersburg in 1994 as the co-founder of HSN Direct. HSN Direct was a 51/49 joint venture with the live shopping giant, HSN. He became President of Reliant International Media Corp. in 1997. Since 2008 he served as President of TVGoods.com LLC, and in 2010 became Chairman and CEO of Harrington Multi Media Marketing. In 2009 he was named a member of the Nominating Committee of ERA, which is considered the premier trade organization for the direct response marketing industry.

Timothy R. Hawthorne, regarded by many as the “Father of the Modern Infomercial,” is founder, chairman and executive creative director of Hawthorne Direct, a leading full-service direct response agency. A graduate of Harvard University, a D.G.A. director, and former network documentary producer, Mr. Hawthorne’s agency has produced or managed more than 600 campaigns for such leading-edge clients as Apple, Discover Card, US Navy, Time-Life, AARP, Paramount, Bose, Taylor Made, and Nissan. Author of numerous articles, a sought-after speaker, and expert witness, Mr. Hawthorne was named Entrepreneur of the Year by USA Today/Ernst & Young, and one of the 25 Most Influential People in DRTV by Response magazine. He received the Electronic Retailing Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006.

KnowlesJeffrey Knowles, Venable LLP
Jeffrey Knowles manages Venable’s Government Division and heads the firm’s Advertising and Marketing Practice Group. He is also a member of Venable's Executive Committee. He focuses on national television advertising, direct-to-consumer marketing and e-commerce. Mr. Knowles founded and served for thirteen years as general counsel to the Electronic Retailing Association (ERA). He represents clients before the Federal Trade Commission, Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Postal Service, state attorneys general, Consumer Product Safety Commission, and self-regulatory bodies such as the Electronic Retailing Self-Regulatory Program and the National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus. Mr. Knowles is a former member of the Board of Directors and a past Chairman of ERA and past Chair of the association's Government Affairs Committee.

LevyAdam Levy, Tristar Products
After managing Tristar's Canadian retail sales division, Adam Levy joined our team as Director of New Business Development in 2004. Adam's expertise is in cultivating relationships with strategic partners and fostering emerging business opportunities. Adam also collaborates in managing special projects. Prior to joining Tristar, Adam honed his skills over 10 years in the industry. His vast experience includes managing and owning his own business, developing and marketing unique products for TV/Home Shopping and spearheading international product distribution.

Collette has been recognized as “One of the 25 most influential people in DRTV” as well as “Infomercial Queen” by NJ Savvy Magazine. She has served on the Electronic Retailing Association’s Board of Directors, and is currently a member of the Electronic Retailer Magazine Editorial Advisory Board.

LyonsKevin Lyons, Opportunity Media
Kevin Lyons is President & founder of Opportunity Media Inc. and represents Lifetime Networks, now part of AETN, for long form direct response. Heading that effort for three national cable networks, Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network and Lifetime Real Women along with five digital properties, Mr. Lyons is a consistent contributor to direct response publications and has been a panelist at several ERA events. Prior to Opportunity Media, he led a national sales & marketing organization at AT&T. A graduate of Fordham University, he also holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University.

MarshallBryce Marshall, Knotice
Bryce Marshall is the Director of Strategic Services at Knotice. An expert marketing strategist, Mr. Marshall creates powerful and profitable online marketing strategies for a wide range of companies from growing eCommerce firms to massive Fortune 200 companies. Mr. Marshall is especially skilled at creating multi-channel strategies for a wide range of companies. MedvedRobert Medved, Cannella Response Television, LLC
Robert Medved is CEO of Cannella Response Television, LLC, a full service infomercial and performance based media agency. He became a partner in the company in 2004. Under his leadership, the company has grown to more than $250 million in annual billings, with a six year period of 100% growth. Robert also oversaw the company’s acquisition of a Los Angeles direct response agency and the opening of an office in New York, both in 2005. Rob has been instrumental in the development of Cannella’s satellite TV business and expansion of their server-based programming distribution. Rob has contributed to numerous industry publications and moderated and served on various industry trade show panels. He also helped compile “Infomercial Insights,” Cannella Response Television’s textbook on the infomercial industry. The father of three daughters, Robert earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

MeltzerJeff Meltzer, Meltzer Media Productions
As one of the acknowledged creators of the modern day infomercial, for over 20 years the name Jeff Meltzer has been synonymous with the highest standard of excellence in direct response TV (DRTV). Jeff has seen the entire evolution of the DRTV genre unfold before him. He is recognized as one of the leading DR Producer/Directors in the nation. His company, Meltzer Media Productions, has generated over 1 billion dollars in direct to consumer sales. He also has extensive product marketing, financial and media expertise. Since the mid–eighties, Meltzer Media Productions has produced over 2000 DRTV TV and radio campaigns. These campaigns span every product category and all price ranges. Jeff is a regular in the direct response industry and college lecture circuit. He is a frequent contributor and quoted expert in the industry’s trade newspapers and magazines. Currently, Jeff is the Co-Chairman of ERA's Public Relations Committee.

MillerCathy Miller, Provo Craft and Novelty, Inc.
Ms. Miller has been with Provo Craft and Novelty Inc. for five years. She currently heads up the creative strategy, facilitates DR productions, manages and trains call centers, customer care centers, assists in the digital creative and managing of all results. Ms. Miller brought the DRTV format to Provo Craft about 3.5 years ago, finding the venture to be a profit center as a standalone and also to galvanize incredible success via their retail brick and mortar and web businesses.
